Quitting The Moondig
Due to the whole generative AI debacle, I have decided to step out of The Moondig. There seems to be no urgency in replacing all generative AI on The Moondig’s Bandcamp page (if that’s going to happen at all), and this just feels very hypocritical to me.
Some context: as a band we made a whole fuzz about our account getting suspended on Bandcamp because of a suspicion that we made our music with gen-AI. We even had an article in some national newspapers. Not bad for our publicity. But as a consequence I assumed we would replace all of the generated AI album covers on our page. Making a powerful statement about being fully against any AI generated art. I had also used it when it was still something new and weird and compelling, but have since been growing very suspicious of the way these systems are ‘grown’ and presented to the public, and have replaced all of the things I had made that way, with non AI work.
Stating more profoundly that we as a band do not support the use of AI in any artistic form, does not seem to be a priority, so I can no longer fully support it’s artistic vision. This is why I deem it better to step aside.
As for the new AI-policy by Bandcamp, I find that it’s (at least somewhat) hypocritical to only apply this to the music, and not the artwork.
Thus far my stance on this whole AI thing.
To make sure my own website is completely gen-AI free, I have replaced all the album artwork with my own work.
I don’t like taking this decision at all, but it’s the best for my own peace of mind.
Thanks for reading and keep on supporting the human arts in all it’s wonderful weirdness.

First news of the year
Hi everyone! Hope you all had a nice changing of the years. Over here it’s been quite nice, had a lot of good times with family and friends.
So here’s the first update for 2026! Coming Sunday I will be entering the studio with KUT to record our second EP! And on Sunday evening, we will be playing at café Libertad in Leuven with The Moondig. As always at Libertad, the gig is free, so come join us if you are in the Leuven area!
The Moondig is going through a bit of a difficult issue right now, in regards to Bandcamp’s new AI policy.
The problem is we used a lot of AI artwork for our album covers, and I guess they therefore assume that to our music is also being created with AI, which of course it is not, nor will it ever be. Also the fact that we put out so many albums, might make them suspicious.
It’s been a mistake to use AI artwork, and we are willing to right that wrong, but for the time being our albums are not accessible anymore on Bandcamp. Some of them are still up on YouTube, with the AI artwork intact. I guess we should probably ask the channels to take them down and upload again when we have made new artwork.
I have pledged to myself to never use fully generated AI art for my albums. I do think that the AI tools can help elevate your human created artwork, but purely AI generated stuff should be avoided at all times.
Anyways, I hope you are all doing wonderful, thanks for reading and see you around.

Winter update
Hello my friends! November was a bit quiet on here, but that does not mean I’ve been sitting still!
Here’s a little beginning-of-winter update.
Next gigs lined up are:
5th of December: Kut at the Rock Café in Leuven, BE. (also playing are Samosh and Caught Up)
13th of December: The Moondig at Svekke’s B-day Party (private event, also playing are Kozmotron).
25th of January: The Moondig at café Libertad in Leuven, BE.
Also forgot to post that we have new Moondig recordings up on Bandcamp, and as it so happens, tomorrow is Bandcamp Friday!!! So, please support us by buying some of our digital tracks!
I’m also planning on starting the recordings for a new solo album, but I’m gonna take my time to try and make something that I’m really happy with, so it might take a while before it sees the light of day.
And me and my mates in Dorre are also working to finish the songs for a new album. It will be something quite different from all our previous work, so getting excited to get these tracks recorded!
In the meantime, I hope you are all doing wonderful!
Peace and Love to all

Indium by The Moondig
“Beneath the glow of the 2025 Harvest Moon, The Moondig gathered to record Indium. It was no ordinary full moon, but the first Supermoon of the year, the one closest to the autumn equinox. Rising just after sunset, the Harvest Moon once gave farmers precious extra hours to gather their crops by moonlight. Now it offers musicians time to gather frequencies, to harvest resonance from the ether. A new Lunar expedition. On that same night Saturn glimmered beside the Moon. The alignment felt like a chord struck across the cosmos: distance collapsing into vibration. ” (T.Bessemans)

Down The Hill festival 2025
Last weekend I had an absolute blast helping out and playing at DTH fest! Every year this festival get a bit more streamlined, and it’s amazing to see all the volunteers working their asses off to make it all go so smoothly.
Many thanks also to the sound engineers Seppe Dankers and Nick Boonen for making us sound like we wanted to sound.
Here’s to many more editions to come! Now I will enjoy some time off, going on a road trip to the German Alps, drinking reinheitsgebot beer and eating schnitzels!

Silver!
On 11 July 2025 – mere hours after a full Moon rose in the constellation Sagittarius – The Moondig embarked on their latest lunar mission: the search for Silver, element 47 of the periodic table, known in alchemical circles as Luna. With this hypnotic new album, recorded in the field under celestial and ecological alignment, the band continues their cosmic pilgrimage through the elements of Mendeleev’s table.
This time, the journey took them to the Demerbeemden in Betekom, Belgium, where a select audience gathered on a freshly scythed field beside the meandering Demer river. And so the grounds for Natuurpunt’s Big Jump (a playful campaign – the next weekend – for clean rivers and healthy ecosystems) were already coming to life. While beer-taps began to flow a day early and staging took shape for a weekend of water, wildness, and wonder, The Moondig transformed the field into a launchpad for their lunar field recording, capturing the sound of a resonance between nature, science, and spirit. The Moondig went digging for Libertad
The Moondig had the absolute pleasure of jiving out some tunes at Café Libertad in Leuven. The result is a bit of a mixed excavation but it certainly has it moments, of space to earth (and vice versa), sonic goodness.
So do indulge yourself and let me know through the contact form what you think of it (or any of the music on here for that matter). I’d love to hear from you!

Rivercrest ‘Nuts’
A message from the Rivercrest Mothership:
Hi Everyone!
Long time no hear, but that doesn’t mean we have left the building. We hope you all enjoy our latest offering in the form of ‘Nuts’.
They’re crunchy, they’re healthy, they’re nuts!
We have an awesome gig coming up by the way, in a few moons we will hit our second home away from home again, as we have been invited by Orange Facotry to be the opener for the wonderful band Weite.
Weite is a fairly new band featuring Nicholas DiSalvo (Elder, delving) and Michael Risberg (Elder) alongside colleagues Ingwer Boysen and Ben Lubin. Debut album Assemblage is an effortlessly eclectic album of lightly psychedelic instrumental music.
Looking forward to playing some instantly vaporizing tunes for you!
Keep on keeping on the nutty side of things, and see you on the flipside!

Visual documentation
Hi again my fellow music enthousiasts! The last couple of days I have been hard at work with Wheel of Smoke and The Moondig. Recording at Hype Studio in Mechelen once again with the Wheel, and we are all very happy with the results thus far. The work is not done yet, as we still need to record the vocals and synth parts. But we are aiming to finish the production before the end of 2024.
With The Moondig we have recorded a live session at Radio Benelux, and the result of this expedition will soon be available at our home base on Bandcamp. I will of course post the link here once it has landed.
Please enjoy some pictures of these endeavours:

It took us a little while this time, but here are some new impro tunes by The Moondig! We will play another live set on the 20th of July at Zomaarfeest in Kinrooi (BE). Join us if you can!
Here’s what The Midnight Toker has to say about us on Bandcamp: “This band would gain a huge following in the States on the jamband/festival circuit. This material fits right into that scene. I look forward to each release with anticipation. Keep it up, your sound though extremely loose but your band is fkn tight.”

New album by EthErik!

“My newest album ‘What’s Left of Love, is now available to stream or buy for only 5€ on Bandcamp. Soon streamable on all of your favourite streaming services.
A lot of work poured into this one, but it’s a labour of what’s left of love. The overall sound might feel a wee bit weird, but that’s actually the point.
This album is a small smorgasbord of heavy, intense, psychoactive zoned out tracks. The lyrics deal about illusions, emptiness, time, introspection and transience. The music sways hauntingly around steady electronic beats and eerie synths. Acoustic guitars make for an organic touch of earthliness.“
Tracklist:
1. What’s Left of Love (6:50)
2. Cloudless Nights (7:51)
3. Ripping Chrome (6:00)
4. The Long Stretch (14:37)
Total Running Time 35:18

40 years a being on Earth
Today marks the beginning of yet another year on this planet for me. It’s been quite the ride, and I consider myself lucky for a lot of goodness that was and is part of my life. I am grateful for my lovely family and friends, and for still being in good health. For all the cool places I got to visit. I am grateful for all the hard lessons I have learned, and for the fortitude that got me through the hard bits. And I am grateful for all the music and art that has inspired me, and will keep on inspiring me until my last breath. I am grateful for the privilige of living in a country that has known peace for the last 79 years.
I realise that I have let down a lot of people (mostly lovers) throughout the years, and I also have been let down a lot by people (mostly lovers). But these things happen, and seem to be an integral part of learning and becoming a better version of ones self. I don’t hold any grudges against anyone I have loved in the past, and I hope they don’t hold any against me. I still feel love for all those that I shared my life with. And if any of you are reading this, I am truly sorry for letting you down.
So, here is to another 40 years of crazy music making, discovering new places and meeting interesting people! And to good health, which is the foundation of it all.
Oh yeah, I forgot to post this latest album by The Moondig, so here you go:

A seasonal greeting
A happy Solstice to all, and a heartfelt thank you to everybody that has supported my musical ventures so far!
2023 has been another strange year in many ways, but musically quite productive. I saw many a great concert at festivals, awesome venues and discovered a lot of great new music. I was able to play lovely shows with all of my bands, and one thing that’s certain, is that my musical companions and me immensely appreciate you showing up to our shows and enjoying our music. We hope to be able to do this a lot more in the coming years, as to keep on spreading the message of peace and love through musical unity. We are all but specks of sparkling dust, floating on a weird space ball in an immense, beautiful, chaotic cosmos. Let’s just enjoy the ride together, while it lasts.
To end the year on a good note, here’s 2 more Moondig-able goodies for you, available at ‘name your price’ Bandcamp style:

12 OCTOBER 2023
Album spotlight
Hey there! Time for another album of the day.

‘Borderless’ is an album containing long form tracks, recorded over several years and in several locations. Most of it was recorded in Herent, but some of it also in Bertem and Boom.
I feel like this album contains some of the best material I have made so far, and I am still very happy with the results.
‘The Dance of Fire’ is a track that was completely build upon a piano track, that I recorded in 1 take. I am far from a good piano player, but this one I am still pretty impressed with. I don’t know what was running through my fingers that day, but it must have been something good.
‘Draugen/Flight of the Dragon’ is a composition I had originally made for an art exposition. It was a soundtrack in a room filled with beautiful art made by Kazryn Zurag and Els Debarbieux. The theme was dragons, so I made a track with a bit of a fantasy, medieval flair.
‘Nervous Freaks of the Space-Age is a wacky, free flowing, contra-jazz track. It’s weird. But that’s just how I am sometimes.
‘The Rising’ is the oldest track on the album, and I began making it somewhere around 2002. I have remixed it several times, and the quaility isn’t all that great, but it’s got a nice proggy, krauty, post-rocky feel to it.

War
I’m sick and tired with all war in the world. With seemingly having to pick sides in religious/historical/nationalist conflicts that I have nothing to do with, being a universally minded human being, that feels the need to transcend borders and beliefs, in order to relieve suffering for everyone. With leaders and followers that only want whats good for those that believe in the same stories as them.
I’m sick and tired with all of this violence. Our minds seem to have become numb to all the bloodshed that happens on a daily basis, and it makes me feel extremely uncomfortable.
Who knows how or when all of this human struggle will end? One can only hope that someday in the future we will look back and think about how dumb, foolish and terribly unnecessary all those centuries of war and conflict truly were.
Murdering each other will always seem insane to me, also when it’s ‘justified’ in a ‘military’ context.
An eye for an eye, and the whole world will be blind. But I think our eyes were never open to begin with.

Album spotlight
Goodday!
I will try to regularly post a random album I have produced or played on, with some context or trivia about that album.
First up:
‘Geisha Tanssi’ (The Geisha Dance) is an album I produced entirely on my own while living at a community loft in Herent. It’s tracks are inspired by experimental Japanese and Finish music, hence the title.
Living at that loft surely has made a big impact on me as an artist and a person. So many great musical encounters, parties, concerts, jams…
This album is a representation of how all of that manifested itself in my way of music making at that space of time.

New Etherik Album!
It has been many years since I released an official Etherik album, but I’m very happy to announce on the 1st of August 2023 ‘The Magnethereum’ will be released digitaly worldwide!
Some info on the album:
Produced by EthErik
All tracks written, recorded, mixed and mastered by EthErik at Etherian Productions.
EthErik: electric + acoustic guitar, electric + synth bass, keys, drums, percussion, flutes ‘The Magnethereum’ is a feast of slow, atmospheric guitars burning through on a iridescent tapestry of lavishly baked and floating synths, backed by lo-fi minimal drums and dubby bass.
It is intended to be a kind of mental psychedelic trip through the imaginary desert landscapes of the mind. Perfect for stargazing on a lush summer night…
On 1st of August it will be available to stream on most major streaming platforms:

12 FEBRUARY 2023
The Moondig
I’ve had the great joy and immense pleasure of jamming along with The Moondig, an interstellar, instant composing outfit that consists of Timo Jacobs on drums and Tom Bessemans on the keyboards (both with whom I have been playing music for quite a while now), and Jan Vermeulen on electric bass. The result is something quite explosive, and you can check it out right here:
What Bandcamp listeners have to say about it:
“One of the trippiest, most spectacular albums I’ve ever heard..I do not say that lightly..this is the Sound of Psylocibin!” (Reek Of STOOM)
“I started to listen and couldn’t stop. Simples.” (YomaBarr)

12 DECEMBER 2022
The Magnetherian Prototape is released
Finally, the first Magnetherian tape is released! You can check it out right here:
The Magnetherian Prototape is the very first tape of the Magnetherian Project.
This will be the only tape that will stay available in digital form for everyone to listen and download.
All coming tapes after this one will be unique and exclusive to the person buying it, both digital and physical. They will be some kind of musical NFT so to speak.
This is tape number 0 if you will. A little something to fuel your curiousity about what the following tapes will be like.
Of course I must add that those might turn out to be very different indeed, or maybe very similar. But never the same.
It entirely depends on my creative impulses. That’s part of the whole idea around the Magnetherian Project.
This Prototape will have a limited run of 11 physical tapes in first batch. They will soon be available to order on the Magnetherian Bandcamp page, and will start shipping on 01/01/2023.

*Gert* chapter closed
The last gigs with protest singer Gert are now done, and the chapter closed. I might still be mixing his future releases, but will not be playing bass any more. 6 years of gigging and recording were a lot of fun, but now I can spend more time focussing on my solo work and other bands and projects. Thanks for the support and don’t forget to keep your eye on this site for updates on a.o. The Magnetherian Tape project!

26 SEPTEMBER 2022
Full Moon Fest by Rivercrest
Many years ago, in the beginning stages of what was to become something of a weirdly organic way of jamming, Rivercrest was a vehicle for the creative outbursts of a few hippie-metal-weirdo musicians. Those were the days of getting into our drummers van to cruise to a basement in the gritty township called Bierbeek. Close to what was, the still a bit more grungy and grindy back then, student town of Leuven in Belgium, Europe.
Along those first years were a few very special encounters, namely with the wonderful Klaus ‘Cosmic’ Hoffmann. A very groovy spaced out musician that stood at the basis of the development of the Memotron.
The other truely great encounter was with Jan Op De Beeck, the one and only saxophone/flute player that together with his lovely wife Hilde had build a wonderful organic bakery to support their family with.
One wonderful evening in the summer of 2005, we had been invited to jam at a garden party, under a full moon to celebrate the birthdays of some of the family members of our perscussionist/theremin player Jef Minten. That night, Alan Stivell was also playing in Brussels, and I remember being a bit bummed out to be missing out on that concert. But we were gathering with an awesome bunch of jammers, and I would have been more bummed out not to be playing and recording this jam with my good friends. This is one of the few recordings on which both Jan and Klaus are present. The other one being ‘Etherische Chemie’.
So I am very glad to present to you this little piece of their and my shared musical history (sounds like something a middle aged musician would say, haha).
Unfortunenalty, I can not share this release any more with neither Jan nor Klaus, as they have departed this earthly realm already. They are surely dearly missed, and not in the least by me. I consider myself lucky to have been able to meet and play with such gifted, friendly, warm and generaly just very loving and lovely people. As I am grateful today to be able to still play with all the other of my fellow musical friends and companions.
Must be the beginning of fall, to be triggering so much melancholy in my mind.
This recording stands as a small but firm testament in time and space, and makes for lovely listening session (preferably under a full moon, of course). I hope you enjoy it.

THE MAGNETHERIAN SERIES
I have been brewing on a new idea for a project in the past months. I will start producing cassette tapes. Each of these cassettes will be a unique, single object, and the music contained on the cassette will be found nowhere else in the world except on this cassette. I will sell these tapes, called “The Magnetherian Series” with custom made artwork and packaging. The music will be solo improvised work and collaborative jams. The music will be recorded with a Tascam multi-track tape recorder on high quality tape, and I will try to keep the process as analogue as posible. Some digital recording or instrumentation might be involved of course. I will keep you updated on the proces on this page of my website. Pictures and videos will follow.
I have obtained a box of 500 fresh, unused cassette tapes, so to fill all of those with music, will take more than a lifetime. I hope some of you reading this might find it a cool idea, and are willing to support me in this new endeavour.
