2021? Another weird one for the books…

As we near the end of this second year of pandemic waves, ever-growing polarised opinions, gig cancellations, lock-downs, natural and man-made disasters, climate change, rising international political tensions, decadent space-tourism, artificial intelligence, virtual and augmented reality, robots, drones, growing extremism, economic uncertainty and overall end-of-time vibes, I sit here and wonder where it will all lead us to.

It’s for sure hard to keep a hopeful and optimistic perspective of the future in these trying times, but in my place of privilege I almost deem it my moral duty to do so. So I keep my head high, chin up and fist raised, in hopeful expectations of better times for as many human and animal beings as possible!

Some artistic musings:

A few years ago I received a box full of fresh, empty cassettes still wrapped in plastic. I’ve been thinking of recording all kinds of different sound-collages, ambient guitar-scapes, jams with guest musicians, poetry, conversations and what-not, and then putting these recordings on the cassettes. The idea is that every cassette will be unique, and there will be no digital online version of the recordings, nor any other physical carrier. Every cassette will be a one of a kind (1/1). I’ll also embellish them with home-made artwork and ship them with all kinds of goodies (stickers, personal items,…). I would try to do a least 6 cassettes per year, 1 every 2 months. Not sure how much I will charge for them yet, but probably something around 10€. Let me know what you think of this idea, and if you would consider buying one (assuming you still own a cassette player of course).

That’s it for now, thanks for reading and wishing you all the best!
